Paper:

Presently I and couple of colleagues are testing Libre Office 5.0 for general use at the office. Some time ago we encountered what some described as a “Show stopper bug”: Graphs from a noise analysis program did not display correctly in LO version 4.0 onward.

I set out to fix this bug without even knowing where to start. Within 2 weeks my fix was accepted in LO versions 5.0 to 5.2!

In this talk I will tell the audience about my experiences and share tips and tricks on how to get started. These will include:
- How to download en compile the source code yourself
- The online tool to submit bug reports and comment on the reports of others
- My favourite ways to contact other developers working on Libreoffice
- The “opengrok” online tool to efficiently search all the source code to find the problem area
- The “gerrit” online tool to submit patches for automated testing and human review

The presentation slides are here as [PDF].
