CHICKEN is a compiler for the Scheme programming language. It produces portable and efficient C and supports the R5RS and R7RS (work in progress) standards, and many extensions.

It runs on Linux, OS X, Windows, many Unix flavours, and aims to be free, simple, portable, extensible, well documented and actively supported. It has a vibrant community which maintains many add-on libraries for a wide variety of use cases, from web applications to embedded development.

We've been working hard on the next major new version (5.0), which is a good excuse for some of the core developers and some of the more active users to come to T-DOSE and answer any questions you may have pertaining to the new features, porting existing code from CHICKEN 4 to CHICKEN 5 or anything else you might want to know!
